About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Maintenance Technician to join our Data Center Operations team. This role is responsible for the installation, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of critical facility infrastructure that supports mission-critical data center operations, including electrical, mechanical, HVAC, and fire/life safety systems. The ideal candidate is a hands-on problem solver who thrives in a fast-paced, up-time-critical environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; technical/vocational training or associate degree in Electrical, Mechanical, HVAC, or related field preferred.
  • 2+ years of experience in facilities maintenance, critical environments, or data center operations (or equivalent military/technical experience).
  • Working knowledge of electrical systems (up to medium voltage), mechanical systems, and HVAC principles.
  • Familiarity with UPS, generators, switchgear, and precision cooling systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics, mechanical drawings, and technical manuals.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a 24/7 operational environment.
  • Willingness to work rotating shifts, weekends, holidays, and be part of an on-call rotation.

Nice To Haves

  • Journeyman electrician license or equivalent certification.
  • EPA universal certification (HVAC).
  • Experience with DCIM/BMS platforms.
  • CFC/HVAC certification.
  • Experience in collocation, hyperscale, or enterprise data center environment.
  • OSHA 10/30 certification.

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance on critical infrastructure systems, including: Uninterruptible Power Supply (UPS) systems, generators, ATS/switchgear, and PDUs; Computer Room Air Conditioning (CRAC) / Computer Room Air Handler (CRAH) units, chillers, and cooling towers; Fire suppression and life safety systems; Building Management System (BMS) and Data Center Infrastructure Management (DCIM) tools.
  • Conduct routine facility inspections, walkthroughs, and equipment readings to identify potential issues before they escalate.
  • Support installation, upgrades, and decommissioning of mechanical and electrical equipment.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs, work order records, and compliance documentation.
  • Coordinate with vendors and contractors for specialized repairs, calibrations, and inspections.
  • Follow strict safety protocols, including lockout/tagout (LOTO), arc flash safety, and change management procedures.
  • Assist with capacity planning and infrastructure improvement projects.
  • Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, and other applicable regulatory and industry standards.
