About The Position

Genesis10 is seeking a Data Center Infrastructure Engineer for a hybrid role (3 days onsite per week required) with a Global Financial Institution in Charlotte, NC. This is a contract-to-hire opportunity. The role focuses on designing, maintaining, improving, and expanding the physical infrastructure of a data center. The ideal candidate will understand critical power and cooling systems, capacity management, infrastructure projects, and operational resiliency. Strongest candidates will have backgrounds in Data Center Engineering, Critical Facilities Engineering, or Electrical/Mechanical Engineering supporting data center environments.

Requirements

  • This role is a potential contract to hire and will require resources that do not require sponsorship now or in the future
  • Strong working knowledge of data center critical infrastructure, including mechanical, electrical, and/or structured cabling systems, with an engineering or technical discipline background
  • Experience supporting budgets and cost controls for data center projects and infrastructure operations
  • Demonstrated experience partnering with Real Estate, Critical Systems, Construction, and Technology teams
  • Proven ability to lead or contribute to data center infrastructure engineering and design activities
  • Experience delivering technical solutions that meet defined availability, redundancy, quality, and budget requirements
  • Track record of leading or managing projects with measurable impact on infrastructure reliability, efficiency, or standardization
  • Professional experience working within a large, complex, and preferably global organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to operate effectively within a matrixed organizational environment and balance competing priorities
  • Practical problem-solving mindset with the ability to think creatively
  • Demonstrated experience leading teams and fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Experience defining, tracking, and using operational and engineering metrics to support data-driven decision making

Nice To Haves

  • 5+ years of experience in Data Center, Critical Systems, or related infrastructure engineering disciplines
  • Demonstrated experience supporting data center engineering, construction, upgrades, or integration activities
  • Experience leading teams or workstreams and collaborating with cross-functional partners
  • Working knowledge of risk assessment and availability concepts for data centers or colocation environments
  • Solid understanding of data center technologies and associated monitoring, environmental, and infrastructure management tools (e.g., power, cooling, telemetry, DCIM)
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and decision-making skills
  • Experience contributing to site assessments, infrastructure health evaluations, and capital projects
  • Working knowledge of root cause failure analysis related to critical systems equipment
  • Experience coordinating with local utility providers
  • Familiarity working with Authorities Having Jurisdiction (AHJs) to support compliance with codes and regulations
  • Exposure to or experience supporting commissioning activities
  • Foundational understanding of network design and layout as it relates to data center infrastructure

Responsibilities

  • Manage critical electrical infrastructure (utility service, switchgear, generators, UPS systems, power distribution)
  • Oversee cooling and mechanical systems supporting data centers
  • Conduct capacity planning for power, space, and cooling
  • Analyze infrastructure resiliency, redundancy, and failover
  • Manage data center construction, upgrades, and commissioning activities
  • Perform root cause analysis of infrastructure failures
  • Utilize DCIM, monitoring, and engineering metrics
  • Work with construction teams, utilities, vendors, and facility stakeholders
