About The Position

TEKsystems is seeking experienced Data Center Field Installations Technicians (L2) to support a large-scale AI-focused data center buildout in West Texas. This is an opportunity to work on cutting-edge infrastructure, including advanced cooling technologies, high-density rack deployments, and complex server and network installations. We're looking for technicians who thrive in hands-on environments and have a strong experience in data center deployment, rack-and-stack activities, structured cabling, power distribution, and hardware installation.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in a data center installation, deployment, or infrastructure role.
  • Strong understanding of: Data center rack infrastructure, Servers and storage hardware, Network equipment
  • Experience with rack-and-stack deployments.
  • Proficiency in structured cabling (fiber and copper).
  • Knowledge of rack power distribution, PDUs, dual feeds, and redundancy concepts.
  • Experience with operating system imaging and deployment tools.
  • Basic BIOS and firmware configuration experience.
  • Understanding of hardware validation and QA processes.
  • Familiarity with: Data center airflow management, DX cooling systems, Direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling environments
  • Ability to read and interpret technical diagrams, schematics, and MOPs.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent attention to detail and commitment to safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Low-voltage installation experience.
  • Experience on large-scale data center construction projects.
  • Previous experience supporting hyperscale or enterprise data center environments.
  • Leadership or mentoring experience supporting junior technicians.

Responsibilities

  • Lead rack build and deployment activities according to design documentation.
  • Perform rack-and-stack installation of servers, storage systems, and network equipment.
  • Interpret rack elevations, schematics, layouts, and installation documentation.
  • Verify installations meet project standards and specifications.
  • Install, route, terminate, and validate fiber and copper cabling.
  • Follow structured cabling and cable management best practices.
  • Install and validate power connections, including PDUs and dual-feed configurations.
  • Conduct cable, power, and labeling audits.
  • Support airflow management and cooling optimization in DX-cooled environments.
  • Install and validate direct-to-chip (D2C) liquid cooling systems.
  • Work with manifolds, cold plates, hoses, and quick disconnects.
  • Conduct inspections to verify proper installation and leak prevention.
  • Perform OS imaging and deployment activities.
  • Execute BIOS and firmware validation.
  • Conduct hardware functionality testing and system bring-up procedures.
  • Perform basic network connectivity testing.
  • Complete post-installation quality checks.
  • Verify installations against project documentation and standards.
  • Troubleshoot installation-related issues.
  • Escalate complex problems when necessary.
  • Document installation progress and project updates.
  • Provide guidance and technical support to L1 technicians.
  • Coordinate with engineering and project teams.
  • Assist in maintaining project schedules and quality standards.
