About The Position

The Data Center Engineering Intern will support KBR’s data center initiative by contributing to technical research, engineering analysis, and project coordination across power systems, instrumentation, and control system design. This role provides hands-on exposure to data center infrastructure, including electrical distribution, system reliability, and hardware/software integration. The intern will assist with compiling technical, financial, and project data for reports and presentations, while supporting engineering teams with research, modeling, and system-level analysis. Work will be performed under close supervision.

Requirements

  • Currently pursuing an undergraduate engineering degree
  • Experience compiling, testing, and validating technical designs through structured engineering project work
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills demonstrated through previous projects
  • Foundational knowledge of electrical power systems, control systems, or digital logic design through coursework and projects.
  • Demonstrated hands-on experience with technical projects involving hardware/software systems, circuit design, or processor/logic development.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret technical data, system behavior, and engineering results.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite for documentation, reporting, and presentations.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical, and communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team-oriented, engineering-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct technical research on data center infrastructure, including power distribution architectures, redundancy strategies (N+1, 2N), and emerging technologies.
  • Support engineering teams in data center power system analysis, including load calculations, efficiency evaluations, and system performance assessments.
  • Assist in the design and evaluation of instrumentation and monitoring systems for power, cooling, and facility operations.
  • Contribute to development of logic and control systems for automation, sequencing, and fault detection in data center environments.
  • Compile and analyze technical, financial, and project data for use in reports, dashboards, and presentations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to support project execution and coordination activities.
  • Perform routine tasks under supervision while progressively handling more complex assignments.
