As a Data Center Engineering and Operations (DCEO) Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) Engineer, you will ensure the teams in our facilities as well as the operations exceed all applicable EHS regulations and company programs. This is a fully onsite role where you will be joining a distributed team that works within data centers and laboratories where we launch our first article AI factories for testing. This role offers a rare chance to work with innovative technology, using AI to improve our processes and results. Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in occupational safety, occupational risk management, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 5+ years of experience in conducting hazard analysis and risk mitigation strategies, implementation of successful internal EHS programs, management of onsite compliance programs, and site inspections/audits
  • Knowledge of US federal health and safety laws relevant to commercial and industrial environments with a concentration in electrical safety
  • Knowledge of employee exposure monitoring programs related to noise, thermal stress exposure, and use of various chemicals
  • Preparation and implementation of site-specific training modules/programs

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with the DCEO Operations staff, Collocation provider contacts, the company’s real estate management group, and the EHS division to ensure compliance with and advancement of EHS compliance programs, procedures, and training in the east region of the US.
  • The role is based in a Northern Virginia data center. Visits to other data centers and labs in the eastern US are encouraged and will occupy approximately 50% of your time.
  • This role focuses on understanding NVIDIA, Federal, State, and local worker safety requirements. It also involves carrying out these requirements in our facilities across the eastern US.
  • The role will also help support DCEO EHS team in meeting environmental-related requirements including conducting inspections and assisting with waste management processes.
  • Reviewing non-routine experiments and work practices on prototype and first article equipment where design and hardware engineers are performing tests to qualify and validate equipment
  • Work with onsite facilities teams and vendors to ensure proper safety during medium voltage switching and medium and low voltage equipment testing
  • Work with onsite engineering and facilities teams, as well as vendors, to ensure proper safety during validation, qualification and deployment of liquid computer cooling equipment
  • Up to 50% travel to other eastern US sites
  • Work in collocated data centers and data center-related research and development laboratories.
  • Initiate and conduct workshops and training sessions for DCEO and engineering staff on H&S requirements including hazard analysis, hazard control, electrical safety and qualifications, chemical management and exposure, high sound pressure levels, ergonomics, and other program areas.
  • Ensure accurate chemical and waste management and maintain chemical inventories, safety data sheets, chemical labeling in chemical storage areas.
  • Conduct universal, e-, and hazardous waste inspections and supervise hazardous waste disposal.
  • Coordinate with external firms and internal teams as the primary contact for audits and compliance inspections within DCEO site operations.
  • Act as site leader for assisting with the development of standard and emergency operating procedures, identifying issues, and generating corrective action backlogs.
  • Leverage AI experience to integrate autonomous solutions into documentation processes, improving team performance.
