Data Center Engineer

Zayo•Los Angeles, CA

About The Position

The Data Center Engineer is the engineering tier of the Data Center Operations team and the technical owner of fiber and connectivity for Zayo’s Los Angeles data centers and POPs. The role owns connectivity requests and fiber projects end to end, from feasibility and design through provisioning, turn-up, and close-out. Working with Fiber Engineering and other specialist teams, the engineer owns dark-fiber and cross-connect provisioning, splice and panel assignments, circuit turn-up, and fiber records and capacity. The role focuses on system-level ownership of root cause and prevention while maintaining working knowledge of the broader data center system, including power, cooling, space, and remote hands. The Data Center Engineer reports to the Data Center Manager and works closely with the Manager to translate operational priorities, customer requirements, and connectivity needs into technically sound execution. Applicants must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis; the position is not eligible for employer-sponsored work authorization, now or in the future. The position includes circuit design and provisioning, fiber testing and documentation, facility inventory management, technical support, equipment installation and commissioning, and coordination with customers and cross-functional teams. The role may require off-hours and weekend work.
