About The Position

One of TEKsystems largest global clients seeking a highly skilled Data Center Server Engineer to provide onsite support within a large-scale enterprise data center environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for daily data center operations, server lifecycle management, infrastructure maintenance coordination, documentation management, and hardware support activities. This role requires a hands-on professional with strong Dell PowerEdge server expertise, Linux administration experience, and the ability to work closely with customer teams and Dell support organizations. This is a full-time onsite position requiring attendance five (5) days per week with no remote work exceptions.

Requirements

  • Strong experience with Dell PowerEdge Rack and Tower Servers.
  • Experience administering Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) and Ubuntu Linux operating systems.
  • Experience working within a large-scale enterprise server environment.
  • Strong troubleshooting and problem-resolution skills.
  • Experience supporting data center operations and infrastructure.
  • Ability to work independently in a customer-facing environment.
  • Excellent communication and documentation skills.
  • Must sit in Mackenzie BC.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with Dell PowerEdge XE Servers.
  • Previous residency or onsite data center support experience.
  • Familiarity with server firmware and lifecycle management tools.
  • Experience coordinating with external vendors and field engineers.
  • The selected candidate must complete Dell PowerEdge XE Server training prior to the start of the residency assignment.
  • Additional training on LOIS parts management will be provided onsite.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day support for data center operations and infrastructure.
  • Perform routine walkthroughs of the data center to proactively identify and report: Amber/warning indicator lights, Temperature or cooling concerns, Open or "hot" doors, Physical infrastructure issues.
  • Support general operational activities to ensure optimal uptime and performance.
  • Escort dispatched field service engineers (FSEs) and third-party vendors when required.
  • Perform BIOS lifecycle management across server environments.
  • Execute server patching and firmware updates.
  • Add and manage user access as directed by customer teams.
  • Support operating system maintenance and administration activities.
  • Assist with server version upgrades and updates as directed by the customer.
  • Triage hardware incidents and coordinate break/fix activities with Dell Support.
  • Schedule and oversee field engineer visits for hardware maintenance and repairs.
  • Support parts inventory and LOIS parts management processes (training provided onsite).
  • Assist with hardware replacement and infrastructure maintenance activities.
  • Maintain accurate infrastructure documentation, including: Server serial numbers, Rack elevations, Asset inventories, Operational runbooks, Change records.
  • Ensure documentation remains current and compliant with customer requirements.
  • Coordinate with customer stakeholders during: Power maintenance activities, Cooling system maintenance, Containment wall maintenance, Other facility-related infrastructure work.
  • Support change management procedures and maintenance planning activities.

Benefits

  • The pay range for this position is $70.00 - $80.00/hr.
