AWS Infrastructure Services is responsible for the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure, ensuring the cloud runs smoothly. This involves supporting all AWS data centers and the associated servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment. The role requires collaboration with a diverse team of engineers, supply chain specialists, security experts, and operations managers to maintain high standards of safety and security while delivering capacity at the lowest possible cost. As part of the global controls team, you will work with experts and innovators in the data center industry. Your responsibilities will include troubleshooting, project management, and maintaining the building management system (BMS) and electrical power monitoring system (EPMS). You will leverage Amazon leadership principles to develop new processes and standards and drive innovation in the controls space. AWS data centers utilize numerous components such as generators, uninterruptable power sources, diesel generators, electrical switchgear, power distribution units, variable frequency drives, automatic/static transfer switches, chillers (air-cooled and water-cooled), pumps, cooling towers, heat exchangers, CRAHs, and air economizers. These components have local control systems that communicate via various protocols. The BMS is central to controlling mechanical systems, while the EPMS monitors electrical systems within the data center.
