About The Position

We are seeking a hands-on Data Center Cable Management Technician to support our growing infrastructure across multiple manufacturing and distribution facilities. This position will focus on improving cable management, documenting infrastructure, cleaning up data center environments, and supporting network and server deployments. The candidate should enjoy physical, detail-oriented work and take pride in creating organized, efficient, and well-documented IT environments.

Requirements

  • 3+ years of experience in enterprise data centers or structured cabling.
  • Experience with copper and fiber cabling, patch panels, cable management, rack and stack activities, and server and network hardware installation.
  • Ability to read rack elevations and network diagrams.
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using cable certification or testing tools is preferred.
  • Strong documentation and organizational skills.
  • Experience supporting enterprise data centers with 100+ racks.
  • Knowledge of Cisco networking, Juniper or Mist, Fortinet, VMware, and Windows Server environments.
  • Familiarity with IT asset management systems.
  • BICSI, CompTIA Network+, or equivalent certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Organize, label, route, and secure copper and fiber cabling in enterprise data centers and IDF/MDF closets.
  • Perform complete cable remediation projects, including removing abandoned cabling and improving airflow.
  • Install cable management systems including ladder racks, vertical/horizontal managers, Velcro, patch panels, and rack accessories.
  • Patch and test Cat5e, Cat6, Cat6A, and fiber optic connections.
  • Install and rack servers, switches, firewalls, UPS equipment, and other infrastructure hardware.
  • Assist with equipment moves, adds, and changes (MAC work).
  • Document rack layouts, cable paths, port assignments, and asset inventory.
  • Maintain accurate labeling following company standards.
  • Assist with network and server deployments during maintenance windows.
  • Support data center cleanliness and organization initiatives.
  • Coordinate with internal IT teams, vendors, and contractors during projects.
  • Follow all safety, security, and change management procedures.
