About The Position
Outsource is seeking a Cable Technician to join our team in Austin, Texas. This role is ideal for someone with at least a year of hands-on experience in cable installation and maintenance who is ready to take on a variety of field assignments. You'll work directly with clients to install, troubleshoot, and maintain cable and communication systems in residential and commercial settings.
Requirements
- 1+ years of experience as a cable technician or in a similar field role
- Working knowledge of cable, fiber optic, and networking systems
- Familiarity with testing equipment such as signal meters and cable testers
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams and schematics
- Comfortable working at heights and in confined spaces
- Valid driver's license with a clean driving record
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail
Responsibilities
- Install, repair, and maintain coaxial and fiber optic cabling systems
- Run and terminate cables in residential, commercial, and industrial settings
- Diagnose and resolve signal and connectivity issues using diagnostic tools
- Test completed installations to ensure proper signal strength and quality
- Communicate with customers to explain services performed and address questions
- Maintain accurate records of work orders, materials used, and job completion
- Follow safety protocols when working with ladders, bucket trucks, and electrical equipment
