About The Position

Responsibilities: Install, terminate, label, and test CAT6 structured cabling and fiber optic cable (single-mode and multi-mode) in industrial and heavy commercial environments. Pull, route, and secure low-voltage cabling through ceilings, trays, wall systems, and conduit runs per project drawings and site requirements. Install and run conduit including 3/4" aluminum, Robroy PVC-coated, stainless steel, EMT, and rigid conduit in warehouses and plant facilities. Build out MDF/IDF closets including racks, patch panels, cable management, grounding, and labeling. Install and upgrade network switches, wireless access points, CCTV cameras, fire alarm components, internet connections, and access control hardware. Read and interpret blueprints, site maps, scope documents, and as-built drawings to plan cable routing and equipment placement. Conduct cable testing, certification, and system verification to ensure compliance with TIA/EIA standards, NEC requirements, OSHA regulations, and client specifications. Operate boom lifts and scissor lifts safely at heights of 40 feet or more. Maintain daily project documentation, closeout packages, and testing records using smartphones or tablets. Travel to project sites across Midwest states based on a rolling project schedule and planned rotations. Follow company safety programs and site-specific safety procedures at all times. Education, Experience, Knowledge: Minimum of 2+ years of experience as a Data Cable Technician or Structured Cabling Installer in industrial or heavy commercial environments. Hands-on experience installing, terminating, and testing CAT6 cabling and fiber optic cabling (single-mode and multi-mode) with working knowledge of conduit installation methods in industrial applications. Experience with CCTV, access control, alarm systems, or related low-voltage systems preferred. Demonstrated success executing time-critical upgrades during scheduled shutdowns. Knowledge of TIA/EIA standards and cable closeout documentation practices preferred. Certificates, Licenses, Registrations: Valid Driver’s license Willingness to drive to project sites throughout the United States Physical Demands: To perform this job successfully you must be capable of: Lifting 50 lbs. Bending/kneeling in cramped cabinets, climb ladders, and work in hot or cold industrial environments. Comfortable standing and walking for 8–12-hour shifts Special Requirements: Language Skills Ability to read and comprehend work instructions, correspondences, and memos. Ability to write correspondence. Ability to effectively present information. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedural manuals. Mathematical Skills Ability to add and subtract two-digit number and to multiply and divide with 10’s and 100’s. Ability to perform these operations using unity of American money and weight measurement, volume, and distance. Ability to read a ruler to 1/16” Reasoning Ability Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out simple one-or two-step instructions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions in written, oral, diagram or schedule form.
