About The Position

Peregrine Advisors is seeking a Data Architect to shape the data architecture and data models for a large federal data-lake platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS). This role involves working with technologies such as S3, Apache Iceberg, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB. The position is focused on building clean data models and schemas, designing the architecture for data integration, and restructuring the existing ecosystem to improve efficiency and integrity. The role also offers opportunities to contribute to new capabilities and lines of business within the firm.

Requirements

  • Sole United States citizenship and the ability to obtain a Public Trust determination.
  • Hybrid role based in the Washington, DC metropolitan area, requiring regular commuting into DC.
  • 5+ years of data architecture and data modeling experience.
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Schema design across a data lake and relational stores: S3 with Apache Iceberg tables, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB.
  • AWS cloud data architecture (Glue, EMR, Lambda).
  • Data governance and security (Apache Ranger or comparable access controls).
  • Data modeling tools (for example ER/Studio or IBM InfoSphere).
  • Stakeholder communication with technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Basic proficiency in writing, PowerPoint, and Excel.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in a relevant field.
  • Hadoop or Spark.
  • Data-lifecycle breadth: data engineering, data product, data science, or data management.
  • Federal information technology experience.
  • Familiarity with AI-assisted developer tooling.

Responsibilities

  • Shape the data architecture and data models for a large federal data-lake platform on Amazon Web Services (AWS).
  • Build clean data models and schemas across the data lake and relational stores (S3 with Apache Iceberg tables, Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL, and DynamoDB).
  • Design the architecture that brings data together, including models and schemas for new and migrated sources.
  • Restructure the existing ecosystem to cut redundancy and protect integrity and accessibility under governed access.
  • Develop new capabilities, tools, and lines of business for the firm.
