About The Position

Great American Insurance Group's Property & Casualty IT Services supports business units and corporate functions with technology services, including software development, data management, cloud services, security, technical support, and infrastructure management. The IT Data group is seeking a Data Application Engineer Intern for Summer 2027. This hybrid role combines in-office and remote work, with employees expected to maintain a meaningful on-site presence. The intern will contribute to team goals through development work, unit testing, code reviews, and maintaining documentation.

Requirements

Must be able to work in the office at least three days per week.
Pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Data Science, or a related field.
Proficiency in a programming language such as Java, Python, C#, or JavaScript.
Competency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook.
Understanding of the software development lifecycle, from planning and design through testing and deployment.
Ability to identify and fix bugs efficiently.
Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
Strong organizational skills.
Ability to work effectively independently and as part of a team.
Ability to work on tight deadlines as needed.
Strong analytical skills to address complex coding challenges and find solutions.
Willingness to learn new technologies and adapt to changing project requirements.

Nice To Haves

A 2030 graduation year is preferred.
Familiarity with Git, Docker, and IDEs such as Visual Studio Code or IntelliJ.
Knowledge of HTML, CSS, and frameworks such as SpringBoot, React, Angular, or Vue.
