This internship program is designed to build relevant skills, work on meaningful projects, and participate in a collaborative program for early career development. The program lasts ten weeks and is located in Chicago, IL. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, and early submission is encouraged as programs close once positions are filled. Requirements

  • Pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree at an accredited college or university, with a major in fields such as Business Administration, Management, Change Management, Risk Management, Operations Management & Information Systems, Computer Science, Business Analytics, Information Systems, Data Science, Statistics, Human-Computer Interaction, UX Design, Psychology, Public Policy, or other related disciplines.
  • Expected graduation date between December 2027 and Summer 2028.
  • Minimum GPA of 3.0.
  • Curiosity about financial markets and interest in learning more about the financial services industry.
  • Proven analytical, data interpretation, problem-solving, critical and strategic thinking skills through coursework and/or previous internship experience.
  • Demonstrated leadership and teamwork through projects and/or extracurricular involvement.
  • Must be authorized to work in the U.S. without the need for employment-based visa sponsorship now or in the future. Northern Trust will not sponsor applicants for U.S. work visa status for this opportunity.

Responsibilities

  • Work with product designers and UX researchers to improve user experiences across digital platforms.
  • Support product management, agile delivery, and marketplace development for enterprise data products.
  • Assist in policy development, metadata management, and data quality initiatives.
  • Contribute to model development, data science projects, and business insights.
  • Help manage change initiatives, stakeholder engagement, and program delivery.
  • Participate in organizational design, capability modeling, and operating model transformation.
