About The Position

The Data Analytics Associate plays a key role in strengthening Tipping Point’s ability to measure and communicate impact effectively. As a member of the Impact Team, this role is responsible for collecting, managing, analyzing, and reporting on program and investment data to help track progress toward organizational goals and measure outcomes across Tipping Point’s portfolio. The Data Analytics Associate is detail-oriented, collaborative, and comfortable working with multiple sources of data to support learning, evaluation, and performance measurement efforts. Working closely with Learning + Evaluation Managers and program staff, the Data Analytics Associate ensures the accuracy, consistency, and integrity of data systems and reporting processes. This role focuses on execution and operational support, including maintaining datasets, producing recurring reports and dashboards, conducting routine quantitative analysis, and supporting data-informed decision making across the organization. The Data Analytics Associate reports to the Senior Director of Impact.

Requirements

Relevant professional experience, including working in environments that involved thinking strategically and tactically about data architecture, management, and analysis.
Advanced quantitative skills and the ability to analyze and synthesize data; prior experience with statistical, graphical, and coding tools strongly preferred.
Demonstrated initiative and the ability to self-direct work and develop project plans when given a desired output.
History of delivering high-quality work on ambitious, but achievable deadlines.
Entrepreneurial spirit that embraces innovation, learning new techniques, and adaptability.
Strong dedication to rigor and attention to detail.
Experience tackling social sector issues using data.
Commitment to using data science and impact-centered grantmaking in service of Tipping Point’s mission of combating poverty in the Bay Area.

Nice To Haves

Familiarity with recent artificial intelligence-enabled coding developments.
Knowledge of common statistical and causal inference techniques.

Responsibilities

Oversee and maintain internal Tipping Point datasets that are used to monitor grantee performance and measure the impact of Tipping Point’s programmatic and policy investments.
In partnership with the Learning + Evaluation Managers, develop efficient workflows to incorporate new data into existing datasets, and generate data reporting templates.
Clean and incorporate legacy data into Tipping Point’s data repositories.
Analyze data using a variety of tools, such as statistical software like Stata and R, programming languages like Python, artificial intelligence, and tools like spreadsheet software and Tableau as needed.
Develop and implement a process for maintaining data quality, conducting spot checks, and ensuring that data analysis can be conducted in a replicable manner.
Using Tipping Point’s impact framework and internal targets, collect, process, and analyze data to understand the impact of Tipping Point’s programmatic investments.
Working closely with the Senior Director of Impact, serve as the lead on executing all data tasks related to Tipping Point’s programmatic grantmaking.
Respond to ad hoc internal data inquiries when needed, ensuring that data analysis is conducted with a high degree of rigor and replicability.
Working closely with the Senior Director of Impact and other members of the Impact team, conceptualize and execute data analysis projects that can inform Tipping Point’s impact and grantmaking strategy.
Stay up to date on data analysis tools and methods, incorporating new tools and AI-enabled workflows.
