About The Position

This is an 8-week term position for a Data Analyst, open to youth between the ages of 15-30 as part of the Canada Summer Jobs program. The role involves assisting in the development, construction, testing, and maintenance of the internal database and data analysis processes. The analyst will work collaboratively with the data and analytics team on data initiatives, ensuring consistency and integrity in data management. Responsibilities include supporting data modeling, mining, and production processes, utilizing analytical tools and GenAI to integrate datasets and derive insights, and participating in the development of data standards. The role also involves maintaining database security and privacy, and providing regular project updates. The First Nations Financial Management Board (FMB) is an independent organization dedicated to supporting First Nations in strengthening their governance and financial practices.

Requirements

Currently pursuing or looking to pursue a University Degree in Data Science, Economics, Statistics, or a related field.
Demonstrated interest in data analysis, software development, or a similar role.
Familiarity with SQL, Python, R, or other languages amendable to data analysis.
Familiarity with Power BI and its data visualization capabilities, including DAX coding.
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Problem-solving mindset with an emphasis on understanding and interpreting data.
Familiarity and knowledge of GenAI and its practical applications in database development and data analysis.
Excellent communication skills and the ability to coordinate across teams.
An understanding, awareness, and appreciation of Indigenous culture and history.
Must be fluent in English (spoken and written).

Nice To Haves

Fluency in French is an asset.

Responsibilities
