About The Position

The Engagement Optimization Group is seeking a Data Analyst to evaluate system performance and join a missile defense analytics team. This role involves applying innovative solutions to defense system problems, with a focus on engagement optimization strategies for defending against global air and missile threats. The Data Analyst will support combat system requirements, design, test, and evaluation, with the primary responsibility of analyzing data to identify and implement improvements to combat system design. This includes building, maintaining, and improving automated software tools for rapid analysis of large datasets from complex operational systems to discover trends, characterize system performance, and perform root cause analysis. The role also involves driving new design features, providing technical recommendations, delivering presentations to sponsors and working groups, and proposing innovative solutions for next-generation capabilities, with opportunities to grow into a leadership role.

Requirements

  • Earned a BS or MS in Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, Physics, Computer Science, Data Science, or a related field.
  • Experience programming and scripting in software languages such as MATLAB or Python.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Ability to thrive in a collaborative environment, including work with multi-disciplinary teams and multiple organizations.
  • Able to obtain an Interim Secret level security clearance by your start date and ultimately obtain a Secret level clearance.
  • U.S. citizenship.

Nice To Haves

  • Strong MATLAB and/or Python scripting skills.
  • Experience working with Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML) algorithms and using these tools in your workflow.
  • Willing and able to travel.
  • Experience in Aegis Weapon System performance assessment and/or Missile Defense Agency (MDA) ground and flight test analysis.
  • Hold an active Secret or Top Secret security clearance.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzing data to identify and implement improvements to combat system design.
  • Build, maintain, and improve automated software tools to enable rapid analysis of large data sets from complex operational systems to aid in the discovery and recognition of trends, characterize system performance, and perform root cause analysis.
  • Drive new design features and provide technical recommendations based on analysis.
  • Deliver presentations to sponsors and engineering community working groups; effectively communicate proposed concepts, engineering results, and recommendations.
  • Propose innovative new solutions for next-generation Engagement Optimization capabilities.
  • Grow into a leadership role coordinating internal and external analysis activities.
