About The Position

The American Dental Education Association (ADEA) is seeking to add an experienced Data Analyst to its team. The Data Analyst is responsible for maintaining the ADEA Data Portal, the ADEA research data platform and for analyzing, reporting and ensuring data integrity as part of different ADEA research projects. This position is supervised by the Senior Vice President, Policy and Education Research in the Office of Educational Services (OES). As a key member of the OES research team, you will be the technical lead for the maintenance of the ADEA Data Portal and the ADEA research data platform and will actively support ADEA’s research programmatic activities by fulfilling dental education data collection and analysis.

Requirements

A bachelor's degree and five years of professional work experience, including three years of quantitative research, data science and/or database management experience; or a master's degree and three years of relevant experience.
Python and SQL proficiency.
Working knowledge of statistics and ETL techniques.
Familiarity with data management, data cleaning, and data validation processes.
Ability to keep a variety of tasks on time.
Attention to detail and meticulous focus on sensitive and time sensitive materials and activities.
Ability to work effectively in a diverse team environment and the ability to collaborate well with others from different backgrounds, including vendors, clients and/or members.
Must be able to work onsite at ADEA’s Washington, D.C. office Monday through Thursday as part of a required hybrid schedule; remote work is permitted on Fridays.
As part of the selection process, candidates will be invited to complete a take home coding exercise using one of the following tools: Python, SAS, SPSS, or R (please note that access to the software is not provided). Candidates will have 24 hours to complete the exercise, which is designed to assess coding proficiency, efficiency in working with data and the ability to communicate results clearly and accurately.

Nice To Haves

Higher education research experience in dental education/medical education preferred.
PowerBI and Qualtrics preferred.

Responsibilities

Work collaboratively with external vendors to maintain and update the ADEA Data Portal including but not limited to adding years of data to current dashboards; making necessary updates to the dashboards and the data portal website to maintain functionality, data security and privacy; and creating any additional dashboards, as necessary.
Provide technical assistance to members as they utilize the ADEA Data Portal.
Maintain the ADEA research data platform up to date, by uploading additional years of data and/or datasets in the current database, ensuring the consistency of the database across the years, the functionality of the database and that documentation is complete and up to date.
Conduct data collection through surveys, censuses, administrative data collections, data scraping, etc.
Process, validate and analyze collected data.
Code and create spreadsheet-based reports and interactive visual reports.
Work with ADEA members directly to ensure updated contacts for the distribution of the data collection tools, the submission of their data in an efficient manner and the correction of missing/incorrectly input data.
Collaborate with ADEA colleagues on automating data collection and processing and creating algorithms to make the analysis process more efficient.
Communicate timely any issues encountered and provide suggestions for solutions.
Work with colleagues across ADEA on tasks and projects, as necessary.
Follow data privacy policies and comply with data protection regulations.
