About The Position

Expion Health is seeking a Data Analyst, Pharmacy Analytics to serve as the dependable source for pharmacy data, reports, and dashboards utilized by their Clinical, Client Operations, and Analytics teams. This role is for an individual who values accuracy, meticulousness in their work, and the ability to investigate data discrepancies. The position is within the Clinical & Analytic Strategy team, reporting to the Rebate & Formulary Analytics Manager. Responsibilities include pulling and validating pharmacy claims data, maintaining reports and dashboards using SQL and Snowflake, and supporting ad hoc data requests from internal teams and clients. The analyst will collaborate with clinical, client operations, and analytics colleagues to provide clear and trustworthy answers.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience in analytics within a pharmacy, PBM, or health plan setting.
  • Bachelor's degree in business, analytics, healthcare, information systems, finance, or a related field.
  • Strong Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables, and working with large datasets.
  • Working knowledge of SQL, with the ability to read, modify, and troubleshoot existing queries.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform quality control and validate analytical work.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, including the ability to investigate discrepancies and identify root causes.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and requests.
  • Willingness to learn and apply new systems and tools, including approved automation or AI-assisted tools, while independently validating all outputs.
  • A high level of discretion and the ability to maintain confidentiality.
  • Comfort working in a fast-paced environment with evolving priorities.

Nice To Haves

  • Snowflake experience.
  • Experience building or maintaining dashboards or BI reporting in Power BI, Tableau, or similar tools.
  • Reporting and trend analysis experience.
  • Experience with Medi-Span or other drug-reference data.
  • Exposure to pharmacy rebate, formulary, or financial reporting.

Responsibilities

  • Pull and validate pharmacy claims and related operational data using Snowflake, SQL, and other analytics platforms.
  • Build, maintain, and enhance recurring reports and dashboards, and troubleshoot issues in partnership with technical owners.
  • Monitor utilization, cost, rebate yield, share-shift, and drug trend data.
  • Perform quality control on all outputs, reconcile totals and mappings, investigate discrepancies, and independently validate all outputs, including those from AI-assisted tools.
  • Support data requests and ad hoc analyses from Clinical, Client Operations, and Analytics, including pre- and post-implementation analyses.
  • Manage recurring operational processes such as Medi-Span reporting and file distribution.
  • Handle formulary-related requests outside the primary formulary-management workflow, including one-off analyses, exceptions, and research.
  • Clarify scope and turnaround with requestors, and bring client-facing conclusions and unresolved issues to your Manager before release.
  • Document reports, queries, and processes; support cross-training and backup coverage; and identify opportunities for simplification and automation.
