About The Position

The University of Louisville is seeking to hire a Data Analyst II. The primary function of this position is to assist with the collection and analysis of University Libraries usage data, surveys, and other user research projects. This position supplies valid, reliable, and actionable analyses to support decision-making within the University Libraries and assists in communicating the libraries’ impact on strategic initiatives to campus administration and donors. This role will also be undertaking data-related projects across the University Libraries as assigned.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field and two (2) years of relevant experience or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Candidates must be legally authorized to work in the United States without current or future employer sponsorship.
  • Candidates must be able to work on-site at the designated location.

Nice To Haves

  • 2-4 years of related work experience
  • Familiarity with academic library operations and/or higher education assessment practices
  • Demonstrated knowledge of data information literacy competencies and ethical data management practices, including FERPA/student data handling
  • Demonstrated knowledge of statistics, data visualization techniques, and data analysis tools such as SPSS, SAS, R, STATA, Python, or similar
  • Familiarity with AI tools for data analysis/visualization
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to translate complex data into clear, actionable insights
  • Demonstrated ability to learn and apply new technical skills
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively and balance multiple projects/priorities simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Conduct data analysis and assessment in collaboration with the Assessment and Analytics Librarian, applying quantitative and qualitative methodologies as appropriate.
  • Develop and utilize reports, dashboards, and visualizations, including relevant AI tools, that communicate the impact of collections and services to library leadership and campus partners, strengthening advocacy for sustainable investment in library resources.
  • Assist with ongoing data reporting activities to internal and external bodies.
  • Participate in and recommend data-driven approaches to libraries student success initiatives, research support, collections, and other administrative priorities.
  • Integrate data from collections, public services, and campus systems to produce holistic insights that inform strategic planning, budgeting, and resource allocation.
  • Compile information and help prepare reports for library administration such as the following: Community Engagement Report, Outcomes Assessment Report, Unit Goals Tracker (Provost’s Office), and for the University Libraries’ Strategic Plan implementation progress reports.
  • Provides regular updates and analytics support to the Associate Director for Public Services in Ekstrom Library and other administrators and coordinators across the libraries.
  • Provide support for other data-related projects as assigned.
