About The Position

Alarm.com is seeking an ambitious, hardworking Data Analyst with strong academic qualifications and proven experience in a dynamic team environment. This position will be the main point of contact for business reporting needs across various functions, involving prioritization and delivery of strategic reporting and analyses. The role requires a highly motivated individual who adapts well to change, can navigate multiple priorities in a matrixed organization, and can turn data into insights to drive business decisions. Alarm.com is a rapidly expanding, entrepreneurial technology company innovating across a broad range of technologies, including AI, video analytics, facial recognition, machine learning, and energy analytics.

Requirements

  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Data Science, Math, Physics, Engineering, Statistics, or relevant technical field. Advanced degrees preferred.
  • 3 years of experience with using SQL for data analysis.
  • 2 years of experience developing MicroStrategy reports and dashboards, and with the MicroStrategy architecture.
  • Demonstrated success when working cross-functionally and can translate technical content to a general audience.
  • Understanding of Data Management and the data lifecycle.
  • Excellent written/oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and tools and flexibility to accept a wide range of responsibilities in our innovative and entrepreneurial environment.
  • Highly motivated, self-starter that can operate under minimal supervision.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with other programming languages is a plus.
  • Experience with other Business Intelligence (BI) tools may be considered.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and automate reports for solving the Business Intelligence (BI) and analytical needs of our full range of stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to establish the right metrics for monitoring the business.
  • Gather functional requirements and work with product and engineering teams to deliver business metrics for our growing suite of products and services.
  • Interpret business data and analyze results to provide ongoing reports.
  • Provide data-driven analysis to support key decision-making for the growth of our businesses.
  • Review data science models and convert them into reports for analysis and consumption.
  • Communicate findings on a regular basis to all levels of business and management.
  • Help train internal and external stakeholders in utilizing reporting tools and analyzing results.
  • Set standards for data management and conceive projects needed to eliminate gaps between current state and future goals.
  • Other duties as assigned.
