About The Position

The Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Data Analyst I for Quality Management. The ideal candidate will analyze policy, and financial and operational data from a wide range of data sets to produce informed operational and policy decisions. They will foster data integrity, promote transparency, and compile and communicate analyses and findings to non-technical leadership to minimize anecdotal responses in favor of data-driven solutions. Requirements

  • Knowledge of and ability to perform data analysis and apply query design principles, data visualization, and/or statistical analysis using statistical techniques.
  • Knowledge of data analytics and business intelligence techniques and technical tools to source, organize, and manipulate data to drive decisions and provide insights.
  • Ability to problem solve, use deductive and inductive reasoning, and apply critical thinking skills to complex matters.
  • Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to use data analysis and business intelligence to interpret trends to support organizational activity.
  • Ability to prepare recommendations, reports and revisions based on business data analytics.
  • Ability to communicate effectively and build relationships with colleagues, superiors, and internal and external stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of the methods and principles of statistical report writing and documentation.
  • Knowledge of project management and business planning.
  • Ability to adapt to new tools and concepts in the field of Data Analytics.
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment.
  • At least two years of full-time or equivalent part-time professional or technical experience performing related duties that include business data recovery, analysis, query design, reporting and statistical analysis; or any equivalent combination of the required experience and the substitutions below.

Responsibilities

  • Intake requests for information and collaborate with requesters to determine business objective or problem statement.
  • In collaboration with requesters, decide what, how much, and with whom, data should be shared.
  • Develop reports and queries to extract data from various data warehouses and other sources using SQL, API, etc.
  • Analyze data to identify patterns and trends in data sets using statistical or other techniques.
  • Verify data for accuracy by conducting code walk-throughs, reviewing data patterns, reports, and performance indicators to locate and correct code and process problems, or inaccuracies in raw source data.
  • Test and validate solution requests prior to implementation.
  • Generate reports, visuals, and presentations.
  • As needed, conduct advanced predictive analytics, forecast modeling, and cost-effectiveness analysis to support business decisions across the agency.
