About The Position

The American Water Works Association (AWWA) is seeking a Data Analysis Intern to support the Partnership for Safe Water and Partnership for Clean Water programs. These programs help water utilities optimize their operations through a structured self-assessment process. The intern will contribute to improving the review process for annual data submissions, enhancing data storage and tracking tools, and compiling statistics to understand member performance. This role involves supporting annual data review, process improvement, developing new data collection tools, and assisting member utilities with data-related issues.

Requirements

• Graduate student pursuing an advanced degree in Engineering, Data Science, or another discipline with a focus on data analysis. Undergraduate students that have completed at least their junior year will also be considered.
• Intermediate computer skills and proficiency in MS Word, MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook required.
• Excellent communication skills required.
• Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision.
• Demonstrated time management skills and ability to work independently, handle multiple priorities with shifting time frames, and meet deadlines; high degree of initiative, urgency, and follow-through.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience with databases, dashboards, and data visualization applications preferred.
• Prior water industry experience or interest in a water industry career preferred.
• Prior customer- or client-facing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support annual data review and process improvement efforts.
• Assist in the development of new data collection tools, templates, and resources.
• Provide support to Partnership member utilities who have data-related issues.
• Interpret data and carry out basic statistics and data analysis.
• Learn and utilize new portals and data storage systems.
