About The Position

The Data & AI Governance Specialist plays a key role in uplifting Capricorn’s maturity across data governance, AI governance, data quality, privacy, metadata management and information governance. Working closely with the Head of Cyber & Infrastructure and senior stakeholders across the business, this role provides trusted governance guidance, facilitates cross functional forums, drives measurable compliance uplift, and ensures Capricorn’s data and AI practices align with regulatory, risk and privacy expectations.

Requirements

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage and influence stakeholders at all levels
  • High quality documentation skills, including solution and technical architecture, technology assessments, requirements mapping, findings and action plans
  • Solid understanding of data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA DMBOK or similar)
  • Working knowledge of AI governance frameworks such as ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF or equivalent
  • Understanding of risk management frameworks (e.g. ISO 31000 or similar)
  • Practical knowledge of privacy legislation and standards across Australia and New Zealand (e.g. ISO 27701, ISO 27018)
  • Experience using data governance and security technologies such as Informatica, Snowflake, Microsoft Purview, Varonis or Azure Data Warehouse to report on governance metrics and enforce controls
  • Leads by example in data, AI and privacy behaviours, actively promoting best practice across the organisation
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to document actions, manage deliverables and ensure outcomes are achieved on time and to a high standard
  • 2+ years’ experience working within data governance frameworks (e.g. DAMA DMBOK)
  • 2+ years’ experience using data governance toolsets (Informatica, Microsoft Purview, Varonis)
  • 2+ years’ experience operating within AI governance frameworks (ISO 42001, NIST AI RMF)
  • 2+ years’ experience applying privacy frameworks and legislation (ISO 27701, ISO 27018, Australian & New Zealand Privacy legislation, GDPR)
  • 2+ years’ experience in policy and procedure development
  • 2+ years’ experience facilitating working groups, consulting, or undertaking business analyst activities
  • 2+ years’ experience partnering with senior leaders on enterprise wide initiatives, ideally across data, AI governance or privacy

Nice To Haves

  • IAPP certification
  • Degree in a relevant discipline (IT, Law, Data, Governance or similar)
  • ISO Foundations, Lead Auditor or Lead Implementor certification
  • Microsoft Azure, Fabric, M365, Purview, Informatica or Varonis certification
  • DAMA CDMP certification
