About The Position

This position is responsible for being fluent in all dark meat production work on a rotation basis, including grader, line loader (hangers), scale operator, box maker, batcher, and labeler. The role involves performing these jobs within the dark meat department and participating as a member of the team. This includes contributing to team concepts, programs, and policies, coordinating work for best practices, attending team meetings, and fostering cohesiveness. The technician must understand and support Simmons' operating systems (quality, security, LEAN, etc.) and communicate concerns or improvement ideas. The role also includes performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives.

Requirements

Must be able to operate scale operator and labeler with provided training material (verbal and written).
Occasional bending of the neck.
Lifting/carrying up to 50 pounds.
Frequent bending of the waist.
Frequent twisting at the neck.
Constant standing.
Constant twisting at the waist.
Constant simple grasping.
Constant power grasping.
Constant pushing/pulling.
Constant reaching above, at and below shoulder level.
Constant repetitive motion of the shoulders, arms and hands.
Constant use of vision.

Nice To Haves

Preferred experience working around machinery.
To working knowledge of a food processing facility.

Responsibilities

Performs grader, line loader (hangers), scale operator, box maker, batcher, and labeler positions on the dark meat department.
Participates as a member of the Team.
Participates in the ongoing development, communication and implementation of team concepts, programs and policies.
Coordinates work to ensure best practices with all team members.
Attends appropriate team meetings.
Fosters strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues.
Accepts responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
Actively looks for ways, and reinforces actions needed, to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Is familiar with Simmons' established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN).
Understands the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position's role in support of these systems.
Considers the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Performs other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
