About The Position

The Cook is responsible for preparing recipes and food items in accordance with the Executive Chef’s requirements. The role involves preparing various food items using different cooking methods, maintaining ingredient supply levels, and ensuring a sanitary and organized work area. The cook must also demonstrate proper care and knowledge of tools, equipment, and food products, and adhere to standard recipes and specifications. Effective communication with team members and assisting with other assigned duties are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Minimum of one year experience as a cook.
  • Ability to work from a standing position for extended periods of time.
  • Neat appearance with good personal hygiene.
  • Ability to uphold and demonstrate the highest level of integrity in all situations and recognize standards required by a regulated business.
  • Must be able to obtain a required Virginia Lottery Non-Gaming License.
  • Valid Food Handler’s Card.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, sauté, broil, fry, bake, and grill food items in accordance with kitchen needs.
  • Operate grill, fryer, broiler, oven, and French top in accordance with kitchen needs.
  • Perform preliminary preparation work in a timely manner.
  • Ensure ingredient supply levels are accurate.
  • Move items from shelves to carts and transport them to assigned stations for restocking.
  • Maintain the required part of food items in their assigned station from support areas throughout the property.
  • Maintain a sanitary and organized work area.
  • Understand and regularly maintain proper safety and health codes and regulations.
  • Ensure all assigned areas are clean and free of debris.
  • Demonstrate proper care, storage, use, and cleaning of all tools and equipment.
  • Demonstrate competent product knowledge by correctly storing and handling all perishables, maintaining quality, security, value, and integrity.
  • Prepare food products according to standard recipes and specifications.
  • Demonstrate positive responses to training by chefs.
  • Effectively communicate with other team members, including service and kitchen maintenance personnel.
  • Assist with any other job-related duties that may be assigned.
