About The Position

Ensemble Schools is seeking experienced dance teachers to join the teaching team at Evolve Dance Company in Rockford, Illinois. The studio provides quality dance instruction in a safe environment, with a focus on developing students’ dance technique and life skills. The role involves engaging, in-person instruction for children across multiple dance styles and levels, as well as contributing to the studio’s dance community. The teacher must be available Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM. The studio is also seeking someone willing to substitute throughout the week: Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 AM. This is a part-time position paying $20–$24 per hour. Evolve Dance Company was founded in 2005 and serves dancers in Rockford and surrounding areas. It is part of Ensemble Schools, a collaborative network of community-driven music and dance schools that shares resources while preserving each school’s identity. Ensemble Schools emphasizes stewardship of local businesses and communities, teacher growth, and support for schools, teachers, and students.

Requirements

Have a strong background in dance demonstrated through education, teaching, and/or performing experience.
Have a genuine love of teaching and experience working with young dancers.
Be able to teach all styles and levels.
Provide reliable transportation.
Pass a routine background check.
Demonstrate dependability, professionalism, enthusiasm, punctuality, and friendliness.
Be available Thursdays from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM.
Be willing to substitute Monday through Thursday from 4:00 PM to 9:00 PM and Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 12:00 AM.

Nice To Haves

An enthusiastic and vibrant personality for engaging young dancers.
Post-secondary dance training, such as a certificate or degree in dance performance, education, or a related field; this is not mandatory.

Responsibilities

Teach group classes in foundational dance technique across multiple styles.
Use a solid foundation in various dance styles.
Choreograph recital dances for recreational students.
Provide engaging instruction for young dancers and contribute to their development.
