About The Position

Children’s Theatre of Charlotte (CTC) is seeking enthusiastic and highly motivated teaching artists interested in joining their team. CTC is a national leader in Theatre for Young Audiences, dedicated to creating vibrant and engaging theatre experiences both on stage and in the classroom. Teaching Artists are contacted and interviewed on an as-needed basis, and this is not a regular full-time or part-time position. The role involves delivering quality instruction, creating and implementing lesson plans based on provided curriculum, communicating regularly with parents and staff, and attending mandatory meetings and professional development. Requirements

  • Training and/or experience in dance and/or creative movement.
  • Experience and interest in working with students ages 2-10.
  • Passion for excellence in dance and theatre education.
  • Motivation to create a safe and supportive environment for students.
  • Ability to meet the needs of individual students who may vary in ability and learning styles.
  • Ability to foster a constructive and collaborative work environment with students, families and other staff.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Must be local to Charlotte or able to provide your own housing in Charlotte.
  • Must be able to provide your own transportation to and from the theatre and/or the satellite or partner locations.

Nice To Haves

  • Acting and/or music background in addition to dance.
  • Experience and interest in working with BOTH preschool and elementary students.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver quality instruction that meets or exceeds expectations established by the Education Department.
  • Create and implement lesson plans (reviewed weekly) designed to build theatre skills and engagement based on the curriculum provided by the Education Team.
  • Communicate regularly with parents and staff, striving to maintain program quality.
  • Attend mandatory meetings and professional development opportunities as required.
  • Other duties may be assigned as needed.

Benefits

  • Hourly Wage: $20.40 to $43.20 per classroom hour, rate varies by program.
