About The Position

Under the direction of the Coordinator of Dance Programs and Manager of Athletics & Recreation Services, the Dance Instructor is responsible for conducting and teaching activities using a set curriculum. This role also involves maintaining clean and safe areas for guests, adhering to all relevant safety procedures, and performing other required duties.

Requirements

  • Ability to work flexible hours, specifically nights and weekends.
  • Must possess excellent customer service and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work harmoniously with the public and Peoria Park District personnel.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions.
  • Familiarity with the operation of general office equipment.
  • Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, to follow safety procedures, and be equitable to both internal and external customers.
  • Prolonged standing, bending, and stooping.
  • Ability to understand and complete paperwork and record-keeping in order to complete duties.
  • Ability to operate computer, copy machine, scanner, etc.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience in dance, either as a student or as an instructor preferred.
  • Teaching experience and experience in customer service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Using a set curriculum, conduct, and teach activities.
  • Keeping all areas clean and safe for guests.
  • Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed; supporting all aspects of the Park District’s safety procedures.
  • Performs all other duties as required.
