About The Position

The Part-Time Dance Instructor is responsible for planning, implementing, and leading high-quality dance programming that promotes youth development, artistic expression, physical fitness, and self-confidence. Under the supervision of the Club Director, the instructor provides structured, multi-genre dance instruction and creates engaging learning experiences that support skill progression, performance readiness, and positive youth outcomes. The instructor fosters a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where Club members can develop technical dance skills, creativity, discipline, teamwork, and leadership.

Requirements

Minimum of high school diploma or equivalent required.
Certification, degree, specialized training, or demonstrated expertise in dance instruction, performing arts, choreography, or a related field.
Must complete required DCF trainings in allotted time.
Successfully complete organization sponsored CPR training within 90 days of hire.
Must be able to pass a Level II background screening ( https://info.flclearinghouse.com ) and drug screening through one of our vendors.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of one (1) year of experience teaching dance to children and/or adolescents preferred.
Experience developing choreography and directing youth performances in multiple dance genres including hip hop, ballet, jazz, tap, and STEP preferred strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

Model the mission, vision, ICARE values, objectives, policies, programs, and procedures of Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Tampa Bay; and the principles and practices of non-profit organizations.
Maintain accurate attendance records and program documentation as required.
Assist in promoting dance programs and recruiting youth participants.
Promote discipline, self-confidence, teamwork, and personal responsibility through dance education.
Provide structured instruction in multiple dance disciplines, including hip hop, ballet, jazz, tap, and STEP.
Develop and implement age-appropriate lesson plans that support technical skill development and artistic growth.
Assess participant progress and provide constructive feedback to encourage continuous improvement.
Modify instruction to accommodate varying skill levels, learning styles, and participant needs.
Create and teach original choreography for performances, showcases, competitions, community events, and special Club programs.
Lead and coordinate rehearsals to prepare participants for performances and presentations.
Excel in customer service to effectively communicate with Club members, staff, and visitors to include parents, volunteers, or other community members.
Build positive relationships with youth members that support social, emotional, and developmental growth.
Create an inclusive and supportive environment that encourages creativity, self-expression, respect, and cultural appreciation.
Assist staff members in the absence of others, work on some weekends and/or extended hours for special events and/or programs or support other Club locations within a reasonable geography.
Maintains daily contact with Club Director, Club staff, members, and families.
Demonstrates the ability to collaborate and effectively work within and across teams to accomplish our organizational goals in support of our Mission and each other.
Prioritizes member and Club safety through active supervision and adherence to policies and procedures.
Actively participates with members and collaborates with colleagues to create a positive environment with clear and respectful communication.
