Dance Educator Intern
About The Position
Under the supervision of the Manager of Athletic & Recreation Services, the Dance Educator Intern is responsible for teaching and training a dynamic group of students in a range of techniques and dance styles. The intern will ensure that all students are engaged, motivated, and inspired to achieve their goals in their chosen area of dance. Dance classes are held Thursday and Friday evenings, and Saturday mornings. As part of the internship program, all interns will assist in several Peoria Park District signature events, participate in professional development sessions and team-building activities, and follow all safety procedures. This is a grant-funded position available to both high school-aged individuals up to 15 hours per week and undergraduate-aged individuals up to 20 hours per week.
Requirements
- Current High School or College Undergrad student status.
- Must be at least 16 years old.
- Ability to maintain close concentration for extended periods of time.
- Excellent communication skills.
- Ability to communicate verbally with both children and adults.
- Ability to follow instructions and share feedback.
- Ability to apply critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to be professional, respectful, accountable, innovative, safe, and equitable to both internal and external customers.
Nice To Haves
- Previous dance experience preferred.
Responsibilities
- Teach and train a dynamic group of students in a range of techniques and dance styles.
- Ensure that all students are engaged, motivated, and inspired to achieve their goals in their chosen area of dance.
- Teach a variety of dance styles and techniques to students from beginner to advanced level.
- Follow all Peoria Park District rules, policies, and procedures.
- Assist in several Peoria Park District signature events, as assigned.
- Participate in professional development sessions and team-building activities as assigned.
- Follow all safety procedures that pertain to the duties performed and support all aspects of the Peoria Park District’s safety program.
- Perform all other duties as assigned.
