About The Position

This is a seasonal role for a Dance Assistant Instructor. The primary function is to assist the lead instructor in teaching youth dance and acrobatic classes, demonstrating fundamentals of various dance styles, and preparing students for a recital. The role also involves curriculum preparation, equipment management, and ensuring a safe and positive learning environment.

Requirements

Must be at least fifteen years of age.
Must have completed at least one year of high school
Knowledge and/or background of the specific program, program related experience/training required
Knowledge of the principles and skills of dance
Ability to teach preschool through high school age children
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship with other employees and the public and to do so in a professional manner
Strong oral communication skills
Current certification in First Aid and CPR
Shall wear Unity Dance & Acrobatics uniform per the City of Appleton dress code
Adhere to the City of Appleton and Parks and Recreation Department policies and procedures

Nice To Haves

Two or more years of dance training preferred

Responsibilities

Assist the instructor in teaching youth dance or acrobatic classes
Instruct and demonstrate the fundamentals of hip hop, acrobatics, jazz, ballet, and tap
Be a positive role model for students
Assist in the preparation of class curriculum, choreography and content
Work with instructor to prepare students for end of program dance recital
Manage and maintain equipment required for class
Conduct class with proper student discipline and enthusiasm for dance
Use safety techniques to properly instruct students
Communicate with lead instructor and/or supervisor regarding any student/parent issues
Effectively instruct and maintain a safe learning atmosphere
Create a welcoming environment for participants
Attend staff meetings
Accurately complete paperwork required (timesheet, accident forms, etc)
