About The Position

The Dance and Cheer Instructor carries out dance curriculum in a studio-style setting for preschool- and school-age children. The role works under the direction of the Camp and Family Director and in accordance with Association policies. The instructor creates a welcoming, nurturing, and genuine environment for members and guests; prepares lesson plans and student evaluations; maintains the classroom and equipment; and follows safety requirements, YMCA policies, and applicable local and state regulations.

Requirements

Be at least 16 years of age.
Have a background in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, Hip Hop, or Poms.

Previous experience instructing in a classroom setting.

Responsibilities

Create and carry out lesson plans.
Create a welcoming, nurturing, and genuine environment for all members and guests.
Complete required handouts and student evaluations during the session.
Participate in required trainings and staff meetings.
Maintain and follow policies in the Association's Policy Manual.
Arrange for a qualified substitute to cover teaching duties when absent or ill.
Maintain positive public relations with program participants and the community.
Maintain the appearance of the classroom.
Set up and put away equipment before and after class.
Follow YMCA of Greater Waukesha County department policies and procedures related to safety and ensure compliance with local and state rules and regulations.
