The Damage Prevention Technician locates and marks company natural gas facilities, interprets system maps, supports Company crews and contractors with re-marking, and investigates facility damage to identify root causes. The role maintains relationships with excavators, municipalities, and Company personnel; reports suspected damage and safety or encroachment issues; and helps ensure the accuracy of Company maps and records. It also maintains required reports, may assist with other operations and perform C&M and Service work, and is responsible for safe operation and inspection of assigned vehicles and equipment. The technician is expected to follow Company values, policies, procedures, and safety requirements and complete required safety training. The work is performed outdoors in varied weather and terrain, with possible exposure to temperature extremes and high noise levels. Overnight travel may be required, and a residence requirement may apply because of call-out response times. The position may involve stand-by duty, shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call-outs, occasional extensive hours, and reporting outside the regular work area. It may be performed individually or as part of a team.
