The primary duties include accurately locating and marking company facilities such as transmission & distribution systems, service lines, and other facilities. The role involves reading and interpreting system maps, working with company crews and outside contractors for re-marking to prevent damage, and conducting investigations of natural gas facility damages to determine root causes. A key aspect is maintaining a working relationship with area excavators, municipalities, and company personnel responsible for excavation activities, and reporting any suspected damages to the system. The technician will also assure the accuracy of company maps and records related to damage prevention, and complete and maintain accurate records and reports to comply with company and regulatory requirements. Additionally, the role may assist other operations functions, perform C&M and Service work when not performing damage prevention duties, and may be required to hold stand-by duty, work shifts, holidays, weekends, emergency call outs, and occasional extensive hours. The position is subject to reporting outside the regular work area and requires identifying, addressing, and reporting safety and encroachment issues to their resolution and completion. The technician is responsible for the safe operation and inspection of assigned company vehicles and equipment and must demonstrate support for and adhere to company values, strategies, policies, and procedures, exhibiting core values of AtmoSpirit, Customer Service, Safety, and the Code of Conduct. Familiarity with the Safety Manual, adherence to its spirit, and involvement in creating and maintaining a safe working environment, including completing all required safety training, are essential.
