About The Position

The Dairy Plant Worker is responsible for a variety of tasks within a dairy plant, focusing on the operation, cleaning, and maintenance of machinery. Key duties include scrubbing and reassembling equipment, attaching pipes, adding ingredients to hoppers, and operating machines. The role also involves loading cartons and performing minor machine adjustments to ensure continuous operation. Physically, the position requires continuous walking, climbing, stooping, crawling, twisting, turning, and moving objects both above and below head height. Candidates must be available for either 2nd or 3rd shifts, with assigned split days off that can fall any day from Monday to Sunday. The position is hourly, reports to the Cooler or Plant Manager, and is subject to a Collective Bargaining Agreement. It requires working in environments with extreme temperatures (both hot and cold) and high humidity, and may involve overtime, evenings, and holidays.

Responsibilities

  • Scrubbing pipe fittings and machines with chemical solutions and brushes
  • Dismantling and reassembling machines
  • Attaching pipes and fitting to the machines using wrenches
  • Opening containers and bags to dump various ingredients into machine hoppers
  • Start and stop machine and equipment
  • Load cartons into machines
  • Do minor adjustments to machines as needed to maintain operations
  • Climb, stoop, crawl, twist, turn, and move objects above and below the head
  • Walk continuously
  • Load and move stacks of milk weighing approximately 240 pounds or ice cream racks weighing 1,000 pounds for the duration of the shift in the staging and loading of trailers
  • Stack and unstack items weighing 50 pounds from a height of approximately seven feet to the ground and back continually for the duration of the shift
  • Fill out daily written reports
  • Follow both verbal and written instructions
  • Perform other related duties as directed by supervisor and management
