Cytotechnologist (FT, Days) - Cherry Hill
About The Position
The Cytotechnologist performs microscopic evaluation of gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens, including fine needle aspirations, according to established procedures and protocols. The Cytotechnologist accurately screens routine GYN and Non GYN slides for the presence of abnormal cells. The Cytotechnologist works effectively as a team member within the department and with other departments to provide quality service through communication, cooperation, and collaboration. Prepares and examines non-gynecologic and gynecologic slides for cellular evidence of disease and renders an interpretation of the findings in precise cytopathology terminology. Recognizes deviation from expected results and marks areas for cytopathologist review. Assists with Fine Needle Aspiration Biopsy and other procedures. Communicates requirements for specimen submission. Utilizes computer equipment to record and transmit laboratory data. Participates in Quality Control and proficiency testing programs and other required programs to maintain certification. Signs out negative gynecological smears. Participates in orientation and training of new employees and students, hospital and laboratory in-service and continuing education programs and mandated annual proficiency testing to ensure currency of job knowledge and technical competency. Performs other duties as assigned by lead, supervisor, or manager.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree Science Degree in Cytotechnology, graduate from a CAHEA-accredited school of Cytotechnology required.
- 2 years’ previous experience preferred; student training accepted.
- CP-BC - Clinical Pathologist-Board Certified - American Board of Pathology preferred.
