About The Position

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center is hiring a per diem Cytotechnologist to microscopically examine cytology preparations, correlate clinical information with morphologic findings, and formulate diagnoses. The role includes making final diagnoses on negative gynecologic slides and providing microscopic assessments of abnormal gynecologic and non-gynecologic cases pending a pathologist’s diagnosis. The Cytotechnologist follows laboratory pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintains test records. The position evaluates gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens, examines slides systematically, and assesses specimen adequacy based on the quantity, quality, and preservation of cellular material. The Cytotechnologist evaluates cell morphology against recognized cytomorphologic criteria, reviews patient clinical information, and formulates preliminary or final diagnoses using established terminology. Complex cases or discrepancies may be referred to source materials or discussed with co-workers or a supervisor. The role is based at MSK’s Main Hospital Campus, with rotation to the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care. Per diem shifts are available Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. The position reports to the Supervisor, Cytology. The listed per diem hourly rate is $73.
