Per Diem Cytotechnologist

Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center•New York, NY
•Onsite

About The Position

The Cytotechnologist microscopically examines gynecologic and non-gynecologic preparations submitted for cytologic evaluation, correlating clinical information with morphologic findings. The role formulates primary and final diagnoses, including final diagnoses on negative gynecologic slides and microscopic assessments of abnormal gynecologic and non-gynecologic slides pending pathologist diagnosis. The position follows laboratory pre-analytic and analytic procedures and maintains test records. It evaluates specimen adequacy and cellular material, reviews patient clinical data, and compares clinical and microscopic findings. Diagnoses are formulated using established terminology and cytomorphologic criteria; complex cases or discrepancies may be discussed with coworkers, a supervisor, or a pathologist. The role is per diem, based at MSK's Main Hospital Campus with rotation to the David H. Koch Center for Cancer Care. Shifts are available Monday through Saturday from 11 AM to 7 PM, and the position reports to the Supervisor, Cytology.
