About The Position

Labcorp Oncology is seeking a remote Cytogenetics Technologist to join our team that’s based in Phoenix, Arizona! The position will focus primarily on analysis of routine blood chromosomes utilizing the Applied Spectral Imaging software. The work schedule is Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 4:30 pm. Candidates can be located anywhere in the US and must meet Work from Home requirements. This is a CMS requirement that your home address be added to reports of cases you analyze or report. The salary range is $25 - $45/hour, with offers based on skills, experience, degrees/certifications, internal equity, and market data. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 2 years of experience working in a Cytogenetics clinical laboratory
  • 1 year of experience with cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads via computerized images
  • 1 year of experience in Oncology cytogenetics
  • ASCP certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG)
  • Computer skills; must be able to effectively use the Internet, email, text messaging, chat applications, and familiarity with Microsoft Office.
  • Effective communication skills (oral, written, presentation), is an active listener, and effectively provides balanced feedback
  • Strong patient focus
  • Effectively manages own time, conflicting priorities, self, stress, and professional development
  • Self-motivated and self-starter with ability to work independently with limited supervision
  • Wired internet at a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec
  • Ability to work remotely effectively as required in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands

Responsibilities

  • Perform analysis of chromosomes, which includes imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens
  • Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis
  • Summarize test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature
  • Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results
  • Perform and evaluate troubleshooting, document all corrective actions as needed
  • Comply with company policies and procedures
