About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a Senior Cytogenetics Technologist to join their team Remotely. This role involves performing analysis of chromosomes, including imaging and karyotyping of cytogenetic specimens. Key responsibilities include reviewing test requisitions, summarizing test results using ISCN nomenclature, distinguishing between normal and abnormal results, and making technical decisions regarding testing and problem-solving. The technologist is expected to report accurate and timely test results to ensure quality patient care, perform and document troubleshooting, and comply with company policies and procedures. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • 4 years or more of clinical laboratory testing experience
  • Experience with cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads via computerized images
  • Non-traditional degrees with applicable science credits that meet CLIA standards may meet education requirements
  • Understanding of laboratory operations as well as policies and procedures
  • Experience working in a high volume laboratory environment
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Ability to handle the physical requirements of the position
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • Home office space that is a dedicated room, not shared with other people, and meets HIPAA compliance
  • Agreement to have home address added to reports of cases analyzed or reported (CMS requirement)
  • Wired or wireless internet at a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec
  • Ability to work remotely effectively as required in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with a demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands

Nice To Haves

  • 1 year or more of experience in Oncology Cytogenetics
  • 1 year or more of experience in cytogenetic analysis
  • Certified by the National Credentialing Agency (NCA) in Cytogenetics (CLSp-CG)
  • ASCP Certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG)

  • Perform and evaluate troubleshooting, document all corrective actions as needed.
  • Comply with company policies and procedures.
