The Cytogenetic Technologist will perform chromosome analysis, Fluorescent in situ Hybridization (FISH) analysis, and Microarray analysis in accordance with the department’s procedure manual and proper ISCN nomenclature. This role involves performing Peripheral Blood, Bone Marrow, Amniotic Fluid, Chorionic Villus, Products of Conception, and Tumor set up, maintenance, and harvesting. The technologist will also perform routine and special stain banding procedures, sample preparation and appropriate probe application for FISH analysis, and SNP Microarray procedures. Additionally, the role includes DNA extraction and wet lab Microarray procedures, operating Spectrophotometer, scanner, Fluidics Station and System Data Transfer Server, and performing quality control. The technologist will follow laboratory safety procedures, participate in proficiency testing, correlate clinical laboratory test results, and provide preliminary diagnoses on STAT cases. Problem identification and resolution related to laboratory methodology, instrumentation, and procedures are also key responsibilities, along with maintaining supply inventory and participating in development and education.
