About The Position

Labcorp is seeking a remote Cytogenetics Analyst to join their team. Labcorp is a global leader in laboratory services, providing insights and answers to healthcare providers, patients, researchers, pharmaceutical companies, and health systems. This role is analysis-based, focusing on onscreen FISH analysis with occasional chromosome work using digital platforms like Metasystems (Neon) and Applied Spectral Imaging (ASI), with no wet lab or bench work required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science or Medical Technology
  • ASCP certification in Cytogenetics (ASCP CG)
  • 1 year or more experience in FISH and Chromosomes for Oncology Cytogenetics
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems is a plus
  • High level of attention to detail along with strong communication and organizational skills
  • Able to pass a standardized color blindness test
  • The candidate must have a home office space that is a dedicated room, not shared with other people, and meets HIPAA compliance.
  • Wired internet at a minimum speed of 100 mb/sec is required.
  • The candidate must have the ability to work remotely effectively as required in a fast-paced, multi-site environment with a demonstrated ability to juggle competing priorities and demands.

Responsibilities

  • Perform FISH analysis, which includes analysis and imaging of digitized images
  • Cytogenetic analysis of metaphase spreads via computerized images
  • Review of cytogenetic cases via computerized images and documents
  • Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis
  • Summarize test results utilizing ISCN nomenclature
  • Distinguish between normal and abnormal test results
  • Monitor, operate and troubleshoot equipment, software and applications to ensure proper functionality.
  • Demonstrate the ability to make technical decisions regarding testing and problem solving.
  • Report accurate and timely test results in order to deliver quality patient care.
  • Reports any and all problems to the general supervisor in a timely manner
  • Collaborates with general supervisor on protocol/policy development and review
  • Provides feedback to senior technologists on technical matters
  • Understands and complies with company policies and procedures
  • Maintain a safe work environment.
