Cyto Technologist ASCP: Full Time, First Shift
About The Position
This is a full-time, first-shift position for a Cyto Technologist with ASCP certification. The role requires extensive knowledge in preparing, staining, and evaluating gynecological and non-gynecological material, including fine needle aspirations. The technologist must demonstrate a high level of accuracy in assessing all material, exercise good judgment with attention to detail, and maintain patient confidentiality. The position involves working professionally and courteously with physicians, patients, guests, and other employees, performing duties in accordance with policies and guidelines established with Baptist Health Paducah Laboratory.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree
- Completion of Cytology Program
- Certification by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP) is required
Responsibilities
- Assists with processing of specimens collected in CT scan as required.
- Performs routine microscopic evaluation of cytologic smears and cell blocks.
- Completely and correctly screens and interprets cytologic specimens.
- Numbers specimens received into computer system with proper identification as to the patient and specimen type.
- Maintains maintenance schedule for equipment and monitors supplies of the department.
