We are looking for you! The Cylinder Operator I will through hands-on effort and/or with the aid of material handling equipment move industrial gas cylinders to different areas of the plant and loads/unloads cylinders from delivery trucks. Safely operate forklift, hand-truck, pallet-jack, chain hoist, etc. to load/unload compressed industrial gas, liquid cylinders to and from delivery trucks to filling and storage areas. May load cylinders onto vehicles through hands-on effort or with the aid of material handling equipment. Transfer plant cylinders to different areas within the facility using a forklift. Performs cylinder maintenance such as valving, de-valving, and shot blasting. Perform cylinder cleaning, painting and maintenance as needed. Identify and sort cylinders for efficient refilling and handling. Notify foreman or manager if normal truck loading duties cannot be fulfilled for any reason. Replace pallet straps as necessary. Comply with all company safety policies and procedures. Attend safety meetings. Complete load sheets with attention to detail and distribute to drivers at the end of shift. Maintain a clean, safe and orderly plant appearance. Report any equipment or facility defect(s) to foreman or manager. Comply with all Airgas safety rules and company policies. Contribute to a safe environment by promptly reporting any accident or injury. Wear proper PPE in work area at all time. We are looking for candidates who thrive in a drug-free workplace.

Requirements

  • Prior forklift operating experience is necessary, certification preferred.
  • Able to perform heavy physical work - routinely pushing pulling more than 125 lbs with prolonged standing.
  • Must be able to work occasional overtime to meet operational deadlines.
  • Ability to operate a forklift safely and efficiently.
  • Must be punctual and comply with shift schedule.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent; technical certification in industrial operations is a plus.
  • Previous experience in plant operations, industrial maintenance, or a related field is preferred.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and the ability to troubleshoot equipment issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Commitment to safety and adherence to safety protocols.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changing priorities.
  • Effective communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work shifts and overtime as needed.
