About The Position

We are looking for a Cylinder Exchange Technician to support field cylinder exchanges which provide quick, reliable, and compliant refrigerant cylinder exchange services for HVAC and mechanical contractors. The Cylinder Exchange technician will be on the front lines of this effort—building customer relationships, delivering and picking up refrigerant cylinders, setting up new accounts, and supporting recovery service operations. This role is ideal for someone who enjoys being in the field, is tech-savvy, and thrives in a fast-paced, service-focused environment.

Requirements

  • A high school diploma or GED is required
  • 1-3 years of related industry or mechanical experience
  • Self-motivated and driven to succeed
  • Excellent technical, communication, and organizational skills
  • Experience with a proven track record in customer satisfaction
  • Clean and valid state driver’s license
  • Knowledge of Industrial Cooling and Refrigeration Systems
  • Strong technical/computer skills — daily use of CRM, Microsoft Teams, digital work orders, and tablets

Nice To Haves

  • CDL Class B with HazMat Endorsement or ability to obtain within 90 days (required condition of employment)
  • EPA 608 universal certification required
  • HazMat experience a plus
  • DOT Medical Card preferred
  • Familiarity with common MS Office tools (MSOffice)
  • Must pass DOT physical, background check, and drug screening
  • Willingness to work outdoors and travel within the assigned territory

Responsibilities

  • Work with management and sales to build new customers and maintain client base
  • Strive to meet gas recovery and buyback goals
  • Perform daily route-based delivery and pick-up of refrigerant cylinders to/from customer locations (e.g., HVAC contractors, mechanical shops, chiller plants)
  • Complete digital work orders including cylinder weights, types and quantities on a timely basis
  • Identify and communicate potential sales opportunities for recovery, cylinder exchange, and refrigerant buyback
  • Maintain vehicle safety, inventory control, and readiness of all field equipment. Take proper care of assigned vehicle by keeping it clean, in good condition and maintained according to the manual.
  • Represent Hudson Technologies with professionalism and a commitment to safety and service excellence
  • Ensure compliance with all DOT, EPA, and OSHA regulations
  • Assist in minor service support or recovery projects when needed
  • Follow company processes, procedures, safety standards and schedules with respect to daily activities. Provide reporting on job progress for added visibility.
  • Demonstrate orientation toward excellent customer service by conducting daily activities, communications, and interactions in a cooperative, positive, and professional manner.
  • Assist with depot shipping/receiving and delivery of product and equipment with respect to recovered refrigerant.
  • Perform maintenance on company equipment to ensure performance when in use.
  • Use Microsoft Teams and other digital platforms to communicate with the operations and sales team
  • Track activity using CRM software (e.g., Insightly) and maintain up-to-date communication using Microsoft Teams and other company platforms
  • Perform any other duties as assigned
