The Maryland Department of Transportation (MDOT TSO) is now accepting applications for its Cybersecurity Support Technician Apprenticeship Program. This two-year program offers real work experience to supplement students' college coursework and provide a unique training experience designed to enhance their professional development. The Cybersecurity Support Technician Apprentice is an entry-level position providing cybersecurity support by supporting aspects of cybersecurity processes, technologies, and policies. The apprentice technician is part of a higher education Cybersecurity Program. Employees may be required to work evenings, weekends, and holidays and may be subject to call-in. In addition, employees must have reliable transportation. The DOT Apprentice Cybersecurity Support Technician learns to perform duties under close supervision. An employee will spend the program's first three months at MDOT HQ in Anne Arundel County, gaining experience and knowledge of the various enterprise-level processes, procedures, tools, and policies. At the end of the initial three months and for the remainder of the two-year program, the employee will work at one of the specific modal administrations (i.e., MAA, MPA, MVA, MTA, SHA, MdTA, TSO). To be eligible and to be awarded a Certificate of Completion of Apprenticeship, an apprentice must successfully complete both the required Community College of Baltimore County courseware and on-the-job training while in the employment of the MDOT and under the supervision of the registered apprenticeship program sponsored by CCBC.
