About The Position

Become a part of our diverse culture of learning, development, and mentorship as a Cybersecurity Intern in Summer 2027. Your education is just the beginning – you’ll become an active member of our Corporate Information Security team located in Pittsburgh, PA. During our 12-week internship program, you’ll tackle real-world challenges through impactful assignments, and work alongside our industry changemakers. The Cybersecurity Intern will focus primarily on Policy, Risk and Governance, while gaining experience in Cyber Data Loss Prevention (DLP), Cyber investigations, Vulnerability Management (VM), Security Awareness, and Cyber Incident Response. The intern will receive a well-rounded cybersecurity experience, gaining exposure to both the governance and risk functions, and the technical security operations that support the organization’s security posture.

Requirements

Currently enrolled in an accredited Bachelor’s degree program in Information Technology, Computer Science, or Cybersecurity with an expected graduation date in Fall 2027 or Spring 2028.
Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent
Demonstrated internship, work, research, or extracurricular participation
Involved with at least 1 extracurricular activity
Knowledge of Microsoft Office
Interns must be legally authorized to work in the United States. Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.

Responsibilities

Support efforts to identify, assess, and mitigate cybersecurity risks
Develop cybersecurity policies and standards
Assist with risk assessments and risk documentation, developing reports, dashboards/insights that support risk-informed decision-making
Review security controls and control evidence
Work on compliance activities and audit readiness
Framework alignment, particularly NIST, CMMC, and ISO 27001
Identify and track gaps/remediation
Understand how governance translates technical cybersecurity requirements into business expectations
Interact with the other members of the Howmet Corporate Information Security team and learn the roles/responsibilities of all the team members
