About The Position

Ameritas is seeking a Cybersecurity Intern to drive the business by delivery of IT security services and functions. This position would perform all procedures necessary to ensure the safety of information systems assets and to protect systems from intentional or inadvertent access or destruction. Interns in good standing for at least 6 months will have the opportunity to earn the ISC2 Certified in Cybersecurity certification, fully funded by Ameritas.

Requirements

  • Must be enrolled in a college degree program at least half-time as defined by your institution studying information security, information technology or related field.
  • Ability to commit to a 12-month internship working full-time in the summer and part-time during the school year.
  • Full-time hours: 30-40 hours per week
  • Part-time hours: 15-20 hours per week
  • Familiarity with cybersecurity, vulnerability management, security operation center (SOC) or risk management concepts.
  • Strong computer skills with proficiency in Microsoft Office.
  • Desire to learn and grow.
  • Effective documentation skills for process and standard development.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Familiarity with programming or scripting languages strongly desired.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Enterprise Security in the various areas of responsibility the department is charged with: Security Engineering: Manage, maintain, and monitor the organization’s security tooling. Analyze and implement security controls in various environments.
  • Vulnerability Management: Identifying, assessing, reporting on, and managing vulnerabilities across the organization. Preparing reports that document vulnerability trends within the organization.
  • Enterprise Security Business Partner: Evaluate vendor security platforms, review cloud applications, and assist to build security architecture that protects company data. Work alongside professionals to bridge the gap between technical security and business goals, create practical security guides, and contribute to processes that keep Ameritas systems safe. Support risk assessments and document security requirements.
