About The Position

Valkyrie has a need for a Cybersecurity Engineer who will own, implement, maintain, and improve cybersecurity services and technical security controls across Valkyrie's technology environment. This role performs advanced security investigations, assesses technical risk, supports incident response, and serves as an escalation resource for complex cybersecurity issues. The position requires broad technical knowledge, strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, sound judgment, and technical curiosity. This role has the option to be REMOTE.

Requirements

  • Must have at least a minimum of six (6) years of relevant professional Information Technology experience, including at least four (4) years of hands-on cybersecurity, security engineering, security operations, or comparable technical security experience.
  • Must have hands-on experience administering, implementing, or operating enterprise cybersecurity technologies and technical security controls in production environments.
  • Must have strong knowledge of cybersecurity fundamentals, including identity and access management, endpoint security, vulnerability management, network security, logging and monitoring, system hardening, and incident response.
  • Must have experience investigating security events and performing technical analysis, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis.
  • Must be proficient with PowerShell, Python, APIs, query languages, or other scripting and automation technologies used for security administration and analysis.
  • Must have the ability to independently research, assess, communicate, and own complex cybersecurity issues through resolution.
  • Must be eligible to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.
  • Must comply with all Valkyrie security policies and procedures.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree in Cybersecurity, Information Technology, Computer Science, Information Systems, Engineering, or a related field, preferred.
  • Experience with SIEM, EDR/XDR, vulnerability management, email security, identity security, or other enterprise security platforms, preferred.
  • Experience with Microsoft security technologies such as Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, Purview, or related capabilities, preferred.
  • Experience securing Microsoft 365, Azure, Windows, Linux, endpoint, identity, cloud, or hybrid enterprise environments, preferred.
  • Experience supporting incident response, threat hunting, phishing investigations, malware analysis, or account-compromise investigations, preferred.
  • Experience developing security detections, queries, automation, integrations, or technical security improvements, preferred.
  • Familiarity with NIST SP 800-171, CMMC, NIST Cybersecurity Framework, or comparable cybersecurity and regulatory frameworks, preferred.
  • Experience in defense, government, regulated, GCC High, Azure Government, or similar environments, preferred.
  • Relevant cybersecurity certifications such as Security+, CySA+, CISSP, GIAC, Microsoft Security, or comparable credentials, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Own and administer assigned cybersecurity services, platforms, and technical security controls across cloud, endpoint, identity, server, network, and related enterprise environments.
  • Implement, maintain, and improve security controls that reduce organizational risk and support business and regulatory requirements.
  • Investigate security alerts, suspicious activity, phishing, malware, account compromise, and other potential cybersecurity incidents.
  • Perform advanced technical analysis and root-cause investigation during security events and support containment, remediation, recovery, and lessons-learned activities.
  • Conduct vulnerability assessments, analyze technical risk, coordinate remediation activities, and validate corrective actions.
  • Perform risk-based security assessments of systems, configurations, technologies, and proposed technical changes.
  • Develop scripts, API integrations, queries, detection logic, and automation that improve security monitoring, investigation, response, and operational efficiency.
  • Support security architecture, identity and access management, system hardening, endpoint security, email security, cloud security, logging, monitoring, and related security capabilities.
  • Create and maintain cybersecurity procedures, technical standards, investigation documentation, detection content, and operational knowledge.
  • Communicate security findings, risks, recommendations, and incident status to technical teams, vendors, business stakeholders, and organizational leadership.
  • Collaborate with Systems Engineering, Infrastructure Engineering, Compliance & Governance, IT Support, and other teams to implement and validate effective security controls.
  • Responsibly use approved AI-enabled tools to support research, analysis, investigation, scripting, automation, documentation, and other technical activities.
